Based on its natural advantages, Huairou
has put the adjustment of agricultural structure forward and
put stress on the development of Chinese chestnut, American
ginseng, fresh-water fish and chicken feeding industries. After
years of hard work, Huairou was praised as an example of advanced
ecological agriculture district in 2004.

Huairou is the main Chinese chestnut
growing base of Beijing, with an annual output of more
than 6.5 million kg. It occupies 70% of Beijing¡¯s total

The main products of Huairou¡¯s fresh-water
fish industry are rainbow trout and sturgeon. Its annual output
