·Huairou District lies in the northeast of Beijing, with a total area of 2128.7 km2, 88.7% of which is mountainous area. There are 12 towns, 2 rural townships, 2 street offices and 287 villages in the district, and a population of 309,000. Huairou has a great reputation for its perfect natural environment and richness in natural resources. Located in Huairou District, one of Beijing’s sixteen famous scenic spots, Mutianyu Great Wall ranks 4-A grade in the national standard. Located 5km north of Huairou city, Hongluo Temple ranks 4-A grade in the national standard. Hongluo Temple has a very beautiful natural scenery.       The long-lasting history of Huairou can be dated from the Tang Dynasty over 1300 years ago and the jurisdiction remains the same as that in 1368. On December 30, 2001, Huairou District was officially set up under the approval of the State Council. In ancient Chinese, the character 'Huai' means 'Coming', and 'Rou' means 'Appeasement’, when coming together they mean benevolent rule, national unity and mutual development.
